A first step towards statistical modeling of MIMO terminals accounting for local propagation
Résumé
We address the statistical modeling of multiple antennas terminals involved in a MIMO radio link. An analysis is carried out of the quality of the generation of channel matrices based on the Kronecker approximation, in relation to the validity of the Gaussian assumption for the statistical distribution of the matrix entries. This analysis takes into account the features of the local propagation in terms of angular scenario and path statistical properties, as well as the variability in the terminals antenna characteristics. When the latter is large enough, it is shown that the correlation matrices used in the generation process must be defined on a per antenna basis rather than over the whole set of antenna characteristics.
